Introducing K Karl Lagerfeld

Zeitgeist Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld is more the ever passionately involved guiding his namesake collection K Karl Lagerfeld through our rapidly changing times. Where on a personal level he decided to tune down his royal lifestyle to a much more modest level,

Karl Lagerfeld recently moved to a considerably smaller apartment in Paris and let go of most of his personal staff. Not because he was forced to moderate his lifestyle as a result of the credit crunch, but because he wants to live a more realistic life in tune with current times. "I rarely indulge," Karl Lagerfeld told German weekly Die Zeit last December, "I could live a very Spartan existence." Karl Lagerfeld's signature personal style and androgynous recipe for K Karl Lagerfeld, a perfect symbiosis of youthful glamrock and sartorial elegance, needs no moderation as it's main pillars, premium quality jeans and sharp tailored essentials, have been tried and tested for over a century of style crunches. Instead of tightening the belt, K Karl Lagerfeld proposes to loosen up and get practical in an off black to neutral color palette while continuing the celebration of a very real, and very good life.

"T- shirts and jeans are the basis of modern dress" not a truer word has been spoken by the unrequited "Kaiser" of modern fashion Karl Lagerfeld illuminated in his latest denim line K Karl Lagerfeld. Lagerfeld, in conjunction with Maurice Ohayon (most prominently known for his association with the brand Notify) have produced a denim collection that shows even the most basic of pieces when done well can be a statement in themselves.

The collection has an androgynous vibe favouring a neutral palette with blacks, whites and greys dominant within the collection with occasional pops of colour including midnight blues, yellows and candy pinks.

A use of diverse fabrics and techniques including track nylon, boiled and boucle wool, sequined and sweat jersey, soft leathers with fancy finishes, and either very bulky or fine gauge knits. But the true "ambiguity" comes out in the tailoring of his pieces immaculately structured blazers, leather biker jackets, graphic t-shirts and super skinny silhouettes for his suits and denim. Even the women's shirting is scaled men's styles.
K also has a collection of coordinated accessories that include wallets, belts, bags, gloves and skinny ties - iconic to Mr. Lagerfeld himself.

The denim in the collection has a recurring theme of slim being men's or women's. The denim whilst coming in a selection of grey, black or blue has a gambit of washes used such as unwashed, waxed, clean – up and other coatings used on its 5 pocket jeans.
The collection has also various different fabrics in the creation of his non denim jeans such as velvet, stretch satin, brushed cotton, baby chord, and gabardine. K Karl Lagerfeld is a practical collection with an unmistakable element of rock glam appealing to a young, modern market that are conscious of cutting edge design and style.

This collection will be making its debut in Australia in Summer 2009. For enquiries please call Amy or Stacey at NMI on (02) 9319 3199.
