1955- Nick Mascitelli migrates from Italy to Sydney, Australia, where he opens a custom-tailoring shop for men, using exclusively Italian fabrics.
1972- Nick Mascitelli begins offering his clients Italian footwear, which he imports directly from Italy. With the establishment of NMI, Nick Mascitelli Imports, he officially begins distributing “Made in Italy” labels in Australia.
1976- NMI decides to dedicate his resources to expanding and strengthening its distribution network, while continuing to select merchandise directly in Italy.
1988- Rocco Mascitelli, Nick’s second son, joins the company. Soon after, NMI launches Brando, a classic first line of men’s footwear. The line is conceived by NMI, produced in Italy, and sold in Australia. Due to the company’s solid grasp of the Australian market coupled with its sophisticated Italian style Brando proves itself an immediate success.
1992- NMI opens a showroom, sales office and warehouse in Sydney. The company also debuts its women’s footwear distribution.
1994- NMI by now has established a robust and structured network of Italian footwear distribution in Australia. At this time David Mascitelli joins the company, and NMI begins extending its distribution network into the realm of clothing.
2000- NMI sensibly grows its distribution volumes, and establishes its ranking among prestigious “Made in Italy” labels.

Today NMI enjoys its highest economic volume in Australia and operates in both clothing and footwear on market levels: classic, fashion and street wear. This wide range market coverage guarantees its dynamic capability for importing and ensures a vast capillary sales network in all of Australia and New Zealand.
